Seismological Project S1 – Notice of call

Following the renewal of the 2nd year of the Seismological Project S1, within the "Accordo-Quadro DPC-INGV 2012-2021", and following the preparatory meeting of the Comitato di Programma, it has been decided to open a call for proposals on issues which are of interest to the Project. The subjects of the call are listed below.

a) On the 29th December 2013 the Matese region has been struck by a Ml 4.9 earthquake. A call for proposal to the scientific community is open to address two issues which are considered to be relevant as contribution to the Seismological S1 Project, within the INGV-DPC 2014 agreement.

1) study of active faults in the Matese region to help assessing the seismogenic potential.

2) study of present deformation in the Matese region from InSAR data to address active tectonics.

b) Within the Seismological S1 Project (INGV-DPC 2014 agreement) a call for proposal is open to the scientific community to address the study of the active tectonics in the Gulf of Taranto along the prolongation of the Pollino fault system, with emphasis on onshore-offshore relationship.

c) Within the Seismological S1 Project (INGV-DPC 2014 agreement) a call for proposal is open to the scientific community to address the study of active faults and seismotectonics of the frontal part of the Eastern Southern Alps, in the area located east of the Montello region.

d) Within the Seismological S1 Project (INGV-DPC 2014 agreement) a call for proposal is open to the scientific community to address the use of techniques which are innovative for improving the study of earthquake geology, with application to a selected case study located within the two areas of interest to the Project, i.e., the Po Plain and the Southern Apennines, from the Sannio-Matese to the Calabria-Lucania border.

Each proposal will define a deliverable within the Seismological S1 Project 2014, which is going to last one year, from January to December 2014.
The text of the proposal has to be written in English, in a maximum of 6 pages, figure included, and should contain, at least, the following parts.
1. Title
2. Participants
3. Motivation
4. Data and/or Methodology
5. Expected results
6. Requested Budget

The proposals are to be sent via e-mail to the Coordinator of the Comitato di Programma, Riccardo Caputo ( cptrcr@unife.it ) and to the Director of the Seismological Project S1, Andrea Argnani ( andrea.argnani@ismar.cnr.it ), before the 21:00 of January 13, 2014.
